Finnland. Frankfurt 2013.
This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair is held from 9 to 13 October, and the Guest of Honour is Brazil. Finland will not have its own schedule of literary events at the fair, as the main focus will be on Brazil. However, we do have a special role to play as we prepare to receive the baton at the Sunday handover ceremony. After that, all eyes will be on Finland for a year!
Wednesday 9 Oct, 8.15 – 9.15: The Frankfurt Academy will hold a Business Breakfast „Finnland. Cool.“ to introduce the Finnish publishing industry to all interested parties. Please register via The Frankfurt Academy. Salla Vainio (educational materials) and Touko Siltala (general literature) will give short presentations about the Finnish publishing world.
Finland will hold its first press conference at the book fair on Thursday 10 Oct, Finnish Literature and Aleksis Kivi Day. Finland’s Minister of Culture and Sports Paavo Arhinmäki will open the press conference.
On Sunday 13 at 15.30 at the Brazilian pavilion there will be the traditional „handover ceremony“: Brazil will cede the role of Guest of Honour to Finland at a warm and informal occasion.
The Finnish stand will be at 5.0 A 79. See you all there!
