The logo for Finland as Guest of Honour at the 2014 Frankfurt Book Fair is freely available for use by all Finnish publishers and project partners. It may be used as desired in connection with the Frankfurt Guest of Honour project, and the logo is freely available for download from this page in various formats.
The Guest of Honour logo contains wordplay based on the alphabet in Finnish, Swedish, English and German. Over a two-year period, the texts used in the logo alongside the FINNLAND. COOL. slogan will include words relating to Finnishness, the Finnish language and Finnish culture as well as the Guest of Honour project strategy – and other evocative words. The visual design concept is based on the idea that Finland is much more besides COOL. The logo has been used in all of FILI’s communications relating to the Guest of Honour project in print and other media formats since September 2012.
For example, a bookmark was produced for the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair featuring the first complete alphabetical sequence from A to Ö. More alphabetical sequences for bookmarks and variations on the logo will appear at regular intervals in the run-up to the 2014 Book Fair. The colour scheme will also be expanded, with the first additional colours to be presented in autumn 2013.
The logos were designed by graphic design students in the faculty of Art and Design at Aalto University: Jinhee Kim, Anssi Kokkonen and Tommi Leskinen.
The four logo versions can be used as desired.
The logo versions are as follows:
- Three-line basic logo in English.
- Three-line basic logo in German.
- Six-line alphabetical logo, with details of the Guest of Honour project in English.
- Six-line alphabetical logo, with details of the Guest of Honour project in German.
Rules for use
The logo is always to be used in its official version, which can be downloaded from this site. The logo can be used in all of the participant’s communications, marketing and in publications, alone or alongside the participant’s logo.
The logo may only be used in colour. The colours are red and grey.
It is not recommended to use the logo against a coloured background.
The six-line version of the logo must not be reduced to too small a size. The minimum size is 2.5 cm or 120 px. The minimum size for the three-line logo is 1 cm or 80 px.
The RGB version is to be used on websites.
